Sir John Marshall was a British archaeologist who served as the Director-General of the Archaeological Survey of India from 1902 to 1928. Under his leadership, significant excavations were conducted at various sites in the Indian subcontinent, including Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro, which are now recognized as major centers of the Indus Valley Civilization.
