Smoking is one of the leading causes of preventable deaths in the world. One of every five deaths is caused due to smoking. It causes more than 480,000 deaths every year in the United States. There is nothing good that can be expressed about smoking. It harms nearly every organ of the human body, causes many diseases, and also highly impacts the health of the people involved in this practice. Smoking severely damages the lungs of people. Women who smoke are rigorously affected by this. They die more because of lung cancer each year than of breast cancer.
Statistics confirm that 90% of people die from lung cancer every year. Smoking also affects the heart and blood vessels of people. It causes stroke and coronary heart diseases, which are among the leading causes of death these days. It is not only chain smokers who get affected by smoking, but also, people who smoke less than 5 cigarettes a day may get early signs of cardiovascular diseases. It destroys the blood vessels and can either thicken them or make them narrow, which makes the heart beat faster. It causes the blood pressure of the person to rise beyond a certain limit. If a person is already suffering from Asthma, tobacco from the cigarettes can trigger an attack or make an attack worse.
Cigarette smoking also causes environmental pollution by releasing toxic pollutants into the atmosphere. The cigarette butts also litter the environment and the toxic chemicals go deep into the soil and waterways, causing soil and water pollution respectively. It comes out that not only the smoke but the cigarette butts are also harmful to the environment. Sometimes unknowingly those cigarette butts are even consumed by the animals and birds and are deeply devastated. It is written on the pack of cigarettes that “Smoking kills” and one should not consume it. People should understand the depth of the problems that smoking causes in living beings.

SMOKING: Inhaling and exhaling smoke from burning plant material is known as smoking. Smoking affects our bodies in a very bad way.
Smoking can even cause health issues that can be life-threatening.
Smoking causes damage to almost every part of our body. Even passive smoking can cause harm to the health of a non-smoker, to such an extent that one can’t even imagine in his/her dream.
1. Damage to the lung- Since a human breathes in not only nicotine but also several other chemicals, smoking tobacco affects lung health.
Cigarettes have been linked to a significant rise in the risk of lung cancer. For men, the probability is 25 times higher, and for women, it is 25.7 times higher.
2. Heart disease- Cigarette smoking is harmful to the heart, blood circulation, and blood cells.
Cigarette smoke contains contaminants and tar that can raise a person’s chance of atherosclerosis or plaque buildup in the blood vessels. This buildup restricts blood supply, which can result in life-threatening blockages.
3. Problems related to fertility- Tobacco use can damage a woman’s reproductive system, making it more difficult to conceive. This may be because nicotine and other chemicals in cigarettes alter hormone levels.
The higher the risk of erectile dysfunction in men, the more cigarettes they smoke and the longer they smoke. Smoking has been shown to decrease fertility by lowering the production of sperm.
4. Weak immune system- Cigarette smoking can damage a person’s immune system, leaving them more vulnerable to disease. It may also cause the body to become more inflamed.
5. Vision problems- Smoking tobacco can lead to a variety of eye disorders, including cataracts and age-related macular degeneration.
Such smoking-related vision disorders include:

· Glaucoma
· diabetic retinopathy
6. Hramto skin and hair: Tobacco use can harm a person’s skin and hair. A smoker’s skin can appear wrinkled and prematurely aged. They’re still more likely to get skin cancer, “particularly on the lips. It may also cause baldness and hair loss.

Smoking is very injurious to our health. A disclaimer, or you can say warning, is always written on the box of cigarettes. Knowing all the conditions,s till people are astill dversely using it. You can say People are addicted to it.
Root causes why people started smoking:-
1. It is mostly seen in children, especially teenagers. Under peer pressure, they started using it. Sometimes, due to an intimate relationship, they started smoking and all kinds of addictions.
Also, they stated that smoking is something like being cool. But as unknowingly it becomes a habit or addiction.
2. Mental illusion that after smoking they feel calm and will have a proper sleep, but it is not the truth.
Now let us discuss the harmful effects of smoking:-
1. Smoking is very injurious to our health. Severe smoking will cause emphysema, a commonly called lung disease. Asthma and sometimes cardiac arrest also..
Also, it slows down our metabolic processes. We might feel a problem of weight decrease.
2. It is believed that a person who smokes just after having their meal will smoke equal to ten cigarettes.
3. Addiction to anything is adverse.
4. People who are smoking and the other person who is inhaling the smoke will be affected more than the person who is smoking.
5. Smoking not only affects our health, but it also affects family relationships. Money shortage, addiction are some of the post effects of smoking.
6. Smoking will also cause lung cancer and, lastly, death. As you know, cancer is a deadly disease, and too much smoking will make it happen to you.
Smoking also has its impact on the environment too.
1. It causes pollution as well.
2. Also, it causes health hazards to people around you.
3. It also affects the animals or pets living with you.
Thus, I want to convey that smoking is very dangerous for our health.

There are many harmful effects of smoking on human beings. It is very bad to smoke even in public. Smoking is one of them major problem nowadays. Even most of the teenagers have habituated to the smoking.
It is very important to know whether to smoke or not, and it is also equally important to bring awareness among the people who don’t understand the date of the situation. There are adverse effects of smoking, and some of them include the following:
1. Respiratory problems:-

2. Weakens the person:-
Its effect is not only on the lungs or the respiratory system. Its effect is also on the remaining organs of the body.
3. Harmful even when not smoked but exposed to smoke:-
It is equally harmful when exposed to the smoke even though when not smoked. So, it’s very important to be distanced from people who smoke.
