Here are some of the most famous political and military leaders during World War I:
Woodrow Wilson – President of the United States from 1913 to 1921. He led the U.S. entry into WWI in 1917 and promoted the Fourteen Points plan for post-war peace.
Kaiser Wilhelm II – Emperor of Germany from 1888 to 1918. As the head of the German Empire, he was a central figure in the outbreak of WWI.
King George V – King of the United Kingdom from 1910 to 1936. As the British monarch, he led the UK’s involvement in WWI.
Tsar Nicholas II – Emperor of Russia from 1894 to 1917. His rule ended with the Russian Revolution during WWI.
Field Marshal Douglas Haig – Commander of the British Expeditionary Force on the Western Front. He led major battles like the Somme and Passchendaele.
General John Pershing – Commander of the American Expeditionary Forces that fought on the Western Front from 1917-1918.
Marshal Ferdinand Foch – Supreme Allied Commander of the Western Front from 1918. He led the final Allied offensives that defeated Germany.
Field Marshal Paul von Hindenburg – Chief of the German General Staff, he led German forces for much of the war.
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk – A Turkish army officer who later became the founder and first president of modern Turkey.
These were some of the most prominent political and military leaders who shaped the course and outcome of World War I.
