    Some of the most famous leaders during the Civil Rights Movement in the United States were:

    1. Martin Luther King Jr. – He was a prominent leader and activist in the African-American civil rights movement from the mid-1950s until his assassination in 1968. He is best known for advancing civil rights through nonviolence and civil disobedience, and his famous “I Have a Dream” speech.

    2. Rosa Parks – She was an African-American civil rights activist who refused to give up her bus seat to a white passenger, sparking the Montgomery bus boycott in 1955-1956, a major event in the civil rights movement.

    3. Malcolm X – He was a prominent figure in the Nation of Islam who later broke away and started his own organizations. He was a vocal advocate for black empowerment and self-determination.

    4. John Lewis – He was a civil rights leader who played a key role in the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. He participated in the Freedom Rides and was one of the speakers at the March on Washington in 1963.

    5. Medgar Evers – He was a civil rights activist in Mississippi who worked to overturn segregation at the University of Mississippi and to get African Americans registered to vote. He was assassinated in 1963.

    6. Ella Baker – She was an influential civil rights and human rights activist who worked behind the scenes to empower grassroots leadership, including among young activists in the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC).

    These leaders, among others, played pivotal roles in advancing the goals of the civil rights movement through various tactics and strategies like nonviolent protest, legal challenges, and community organizing.
