Football, also known as Soccer, is one of the most approached sports in recent days. There are over 200 countries that are involved in this particular sport. There are millions of citizens who are into this game all over the world, excluding the local matches we see in the parks, school matches, etc. These are people who collaborate with brands in this field.
Looking into its origin, the game has been played in different forms for more than 2000 years now, earliest beginnings in China. Significant variations were seen in England by the Romans in the early 1800s. This was the time when it began flourishing.
In 1848, the official Cambridge Rules were established. The rules were the reason that eventually ended up separating soccer and rugby into separate sports in 1963.
What was the reason behind it being popular over the period?
There isn’t any specific reason behind it, however, there are certain aspects that contribute to the widespread popularity of football over the period. Some of them are:
· At first, the game got its name well-versed in different countries due to the overseas workers like military, sailors, and many more.
· Initially, though, it wasn’t given much importance. But with time, as its spread was worldwide, the rise led to the formation of a global body.
· This eventually led to the formation of the infamous FIFA in 1904. However, the first FIFA World Cup took place in 1930.
· Precisely, since then, soccer has never been outdated and has grown more and more with time.
