The dynasty that ruled Delhi from 1206 to 1526 is known as the Delhi Sultanate .32 Sultans ruled Delhi under the Delhi Sultanate. The major dynasty that established the Delhi Sultanate was the Slave dynasty. This dynasty was established by Kuthbuddin Aibak. He was the slave of Ghori. He was also known as ‘ Laakbhaksh’, meaning one who donates Lakhs. The most intelligent among the rulers is Balban. His theory for ruling was blood and iron. He destroyed his enemies and made his empire stronger. The only muslim woman ruler of Delhi Sultanate is Sultana Razia. She ruled for 4 years from 1236 to 1240. Kutb minar was built under the order of Kutbuddin Aibak, but the building was finished only under the rule of Ilthumish.
