The book “Masir-i-Alamgiri” was not written by a single author. It is actually an official court chronicle of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, also known as Alamgir. The chronicle was compiled by several historians and courtiers who were appointed by Aurangzeb to document his reign. The primary author of “Masir-i-Alamgiri” was Muhammad Saqi Musta’idd Khan, who was the principal author and compiler of the chronicle. However, other historians and court officials also contributed to the work.
