  The ratio of the number of boys to the number of girls in a class is 3:5. If there are 48 students in total, how many boys and girls are there?

  Let the number of boys and girls be 3x and 5x respectively.

  3x + 5x = 48

  8x=48

  X=48/8=6

  Number of boys=3*6=18

  Number of girls=5*6=30
