Three Major Parts Of The Brain
The brain has three major parts or regions, namely the forebrain, mid-brain, and hind-brain.
The forebrain is the main thinking part of the brain. It has regions that revive sensory impulses from various receptors. Separate areas of the forebrain are specialized for hearing, smell, sensing, and so on. It also has a region where all the sensory information is processed by putting the stored and the information received by the other receptors together, then when a decision is made on how to react, the information is released onto the motor area, which controls the movement of voluntary muscles to react. Example- legs, arms, head, etc.
The mid-brain and the hind-brain work together, performing almost all the same tasks. They control the involuntary movements in our body. Example- watering of mouth, beating of heart, we don’t need to remember to breathe or digest food.. These parts of the brain control the movement that we cannot control, even if we think of them or not, the process just keeps on going without making us realize that something is happening. Some of these involuntary actions, including blood pressure, salivation, and vomiting, are controlled by the medulla and hindbrain.
