Sentence transformation definition:-

Sentence transformation is a term by which a form of a sentence is changed without changing the meaning.

There are many types of sentences, such as simple, complex, compound, interrogative, affirmative, and negative. Sentence transformation means a simple sentence can be transformed into complex, interrogative, or negative sentences without changing the meaning, for example-

She wears a red dress, It is a simple sentence; when we transform it into complex, it becomes She wears a red dress. Like you sea the mode of the sentence is changed but the meaning it’s changed. It’s called a sentence transformation.

If you want to transform a sentence correctly, it is important to know its rules. Without following, you can’t change sentences accurately. Many types of clauses are used in the sentence that can indicate the type of a sentence, so by changing the clause, the mode of the sentence can also be changed. So, let’s learn the rules

Transformation of simple sentences into complex:-

1) Present participle in a simple sentence can transform into complex sentences by adding since/as/when at the first half of the sentence.

2) Being/ Verb+ing in a simple sentence can be transformed into a complex sentence by adding as/when/since at the first half of the sentence.

3) Too…to in a simple sentence can transform into a complex sentence by adding so…that.

4) In the simple sentence, despite/ despite can be transformed into the complex sentence by adding though/ although in the sentence.

Transformation Simple to compound sentences:-

1) In simple, besides being transformed into not only… but also in compound sentence.

2) In simple sentences, despite being transformed into but joining the two different clauses in compound sentences.

3) If the simple sentence indicates any cause of a person’s doing, the compound sentence will first state the cause, then join the result or outcome with a conjunction and.

4) In a simple sentence for having the result before it and the cause after it, the compound sentence will contain the conjunction so/therefore having the cause before it and the result after it.

Transformation Complex to compound sentence:-

1) In a complex sentence though/Although changed like into beginning, the compound sentence will use the conjunction but/yet to connect the different clauses.

2) In complex sentences, the compound sentence will use the conjunction and to join the different clauses.

3) In complex sentences, since/as/when is transformed into and/so/hence/therefore in compound.

4) In a complex sentence, if it begins with Unless following second person(you), the compound sentence will follow this rule, Unless and you will be omitted + or between two clauses the main clause.”

Example

Simple:- Beside being a singer she is an actress.

Compound: She is not only a singer but also an actress.

In simple sentences, despite being transformed into but, it joins the two different clauses in a compound sentence.

Example

Simple: Despite his illness, he doesn’t quit his job.

Compound: He is ill, but he doesn’t quit his job.

If the simple sentence indicates any cause of a person’s doing, the compound sentence will first state the cause, then join the result or outcome with a conjunction and.

Simple: Being guilty, he punished

Compound: He is guilty and is punished.

Compound: He had a good result, so the teacher praised him.

Transformation Complex to compound sentence:-

In a complex sentence/although changed into the beginning, the compound sentence will use the conjunction but/yet to connect the different clauses.

Example

Complex- Thought he is old but still energetic.

Compound: He is old but energetic.

In a complex sentence, as soon as it is changed into a compound sentence, the conjunction joins the different clauses.

Example

Complex: As soon as she comes, we can start dinner.

Compound:- She come and we start dinner.

In complex sentences, since/as/when is transformed into and/so/hence/therefore in compound.

Example

Complex: Since the weather was bad, the match was not held.

Compound: The weather was bad, and the match was not held.

In a complex sentence, if it begins with unless following second person(you), the compound sentence will follow this rule: Unless and you will be omitted + or between two clause + main clause.”

In complex sentences, since/as/when is transformed into and/so/hence/therefore within the compound.

Example

Complex: Since the weather was bad, the match wasn’t held.

Compound: The weather was bad, and therefore, the match wasn’t held.
