Let age of Rohit’s brother be x years.

So according to the question , Rohit’s age = twice his brother = 2x years

Sum of their ages = 24 years

=> x + 2x = 24

=> 3x = 24

=> x = 24/3 ( here we transpose the 3 being multiplied on left hand side to divide on right hand side)

=> x = 8 years

=> 2x = 8 x 2 = 16 years

So Rohit’s brother’s age is 8 years and Rohit’s age is 16 years👍

Area of rectangle = Length x width

Given, Length = 8m , Width = 5m

So Area of rectangle = 8 x 5 (m^2)

= 40 m^2

As per Pythagoras theorem,

the square of length of hypotenuse (3rd or non perpendicular side) = Sum of squares of two perpendicular sides.

Here let us name the two perpendicular sides as a= 5 , b=8 and the 3rd side as c (the hypotenuse)

So using Pythagoras theorem:-

c^2 = a^2 + b^2

=> c^2 = 5^2 + 8^2

=> c^2 = 25 +64

=> c^2 = 89

=> c = √89

=> c = 9.434 (approximate) is the length of 3rd side

(note: students not having access to calculators can stop at the c = √89 step which is also correct )👍
