Description

This fun alphabet matching activity helps children match uppercase and lowercase letters. Cut out the frosting and cupcake pieces, then pair each uppercase letter with its matching lowercase letter. The activity builds letter recognition, visual matching, and early literacy skills through hands-on learning.

Materials Needed

• Printed worksheet pages
• Child-safe scissors
• Glue stick (optional)
• Cardboard or cardstock (optional for durability)

Preparation

1. Download and print all the worksheet pages.
2. For extra durability, paste the frosting and cupcake sheets onto cardboard. (optional)
3. Cut out the frosting and cupcake pieces along the dashed cutting lines.
4. Mix all the letter pieces and place them on a flat surface, ready for matching.

How to Play

Option 1: Letter Matching

• Pick one uppercase letter frosting.
• Find the cupcake with the matching lowercase letter.
• Place the frosting on top of the correct cupcake.
• Continue until all 26 letter pairs are matched.

Option 2: Say the Letter

• Match each uppercase and lowercase pair.
• Say the letter name aloud after making each match.
• Repeat the alphabet together once all pairs are complete.

Option 3: Timed Challenge

• Shuffle all the pieces.
• Set a timer.
• Try to match all the uppercase and lowercase letters before time runs out.

Option 4: Memory Game

• Place all the pieces face down.
• Turn over two pieces at a time.
• Keep matching uppercase and lowercase letters until all pairs are found.
