Description
This hands-on matching activity helps children strengthen number recognition, counting skills, and Roman numeral identification. Children prepare ten numbered paper cups and match them to the correct circles on each worksheet. The activity includes three different worksheets—dots, numbers, and Roman numerals—for repeated learning and practice.
Materials Needed
- Printed worksheet pages
- 10 paper cups
- Black marker
- Cardboard or thick cardstock (optional for extra durability)
- Glue stick (if using cardboard)
Instructions
- Download and print all three worksheet pages.
- (Optional) Paste the worksheets onto cardboard or thick cardstock for extra durability.
- Allow the glue to dry completely if using cardboard.
- Write the numbers 1–10 on ten paper cups using a black marker.
- Place the cups beside the first worksheet.
- Pick up one numbered cup at a time.
- Match the cup with the correct circle on the worksheet and place it upside down over the matching answer.
- Continue until all the circles on the worksheet are covered with the correct numbered cups.
- Repeat the activity with the Number Matching Worksheet and then the Roman Numeral Matching Worksheet, using the same set of numbered cups.
How to Play
Option 1: Dot Counting Match
- Count the dots inside each circle.
- Find the paper cup with the matching number.
- Place the cup over the correct circle.
Option 2: Number Matching
- Read the printed numbers on the worksheet.
- Match each numbered cup to the same number.
Option 3: Roman Numeral Match
- Read each Roman numeral.
- Find the paper cup with the matching number.
- Cover the correct circle with the matching cup.
Option 4: Timed Challenge
- Set a timer.
- Try to complete each worksheet as quickly and accurately as possible.
