What are the main differences between aerobic and anaerobic respiration
Differences Between Aerobic and Anaerobic Respiration
Aerobic Respiration:• Happens when we breathe in oxygen.
•Takes place in our bodies to release energy from food. • Oxygen helps break down food completely.• It produces a lot of energy and carbon dioxide.•We feel energized and can keep doing activities for a long time.
Anaerobic Respiration:
•Happens when there is not enough oxygen available.
• Occurs in some organisms, like bacteria and yeast. • Food is not broken down completely without oxygen.• It produces less energy and sometimes alcohol or lactic acid.•We feel tired quickly and cannot keep doing activities for a long time.
Remember, aerobic means “with air” (oxygen) and anaerobic means “without air” (oxygen). Both types of respiration are important for different organisms and situations.
