    Let the cost of one pen be x and one pencil be y.

    Given that, the cost of two pens are 30 Rs.

    Therefore,

    2x = 30
    x = 30/2
    x = 15

    Thus, the cost of one pen is 15 Rs.

    Given that, Ann bought 2 pens and 5 pencils and the total cost is 80 Rs.

    Therefore,

    2x + 5y = 80

    Substiute x = 15 in the equation,

    2(15) + 5y = 80
    30 + 5y = 80
    5y = 80 - 30
    5y = 50
    y = 50/5
    y = 10

    Thus, the cost of one pencil is 10 Rs.

    Therefore, cost of one pen is 15 Rs. and cost of one pencil is 10 Rs.

    Let’s assume the cost of one pen is represented by ‘P’ rupees and the cost of one pencil is represented by ‘C’ rupees. According to the given information:

    Ann bought 2 pens, so the total cost of the pens would be 2P rupees.

    Ann bought 5 pencils, so the total cost of the pencils would be 5C rupees.

    The total cost of the purchase was 80 rupees.

    From the given information, we can form the equation:

    2P + 5C = 80

    We also know that the cost of 2 pens is 30 rupees:

    2P = 30

    To find the cost of one pen and one pencil, we need to solve this system of equations. We can start by solving the second equation for P:

    2P = 30

    P = 30/2

    P = 15

    Now, we can substitute this value of P into the first equation:

    2P + 5C = 80

    2(15) + 5C = 80

    30 + 5C = 80

    5C = 80 – 30

    5C = 50

    C = 50/5

    C = 10

    Therefore, one pen costs 15 rupees and one pencil costs 10 rupees.

    Ann went to a shop to buy 2 pens and 5 pencils. If the cost of 2 pens was 30 rupees and total amount of her purchase was 80 rupees. How much did each pen and pencil cost?

    Solution:

    Let x be the cost of a pen.

    Let y be the cost of a pencil.

    The cost of 2 pens are 30 Rs.

    So,the algebraic expression is

    2x = 30

    x = 30/2 = 15

    The cost of a pen = 15 Rs

    Ann purchase 2 pens and 5 pencils in total amount 80 Rs.

    So, the algebraic expression is

    2x+5y = 80

    2*15+5y = 80

    30+5y = 80

    5y = 80-30

    5y = 50

    y = 50/5 = 10

    The cost of a pencil = 10 Rs

    Answer:

    The cost of a pen = 15 Rs

    The cost of a pencil = 10 Rs
