  The Panchatantra is an ancient collection of animal fables and moral stories originating from India. While the exact authorship of the Panchatantra is uncertain, it is traditionally attributed to a scholar named Vishnu Sharma. Vishnu Sharma is said to have composed the Panchatantra around the 3rd century BCE during the reign of King Chandragupta Maurya.
