The first female ruler of ancient Egypt was Queen Hatshepsut. She reigned as the fifth pharaoh of the Eighteenth Dynasty during the New Kingdom period, around the 15th century BCE. Hatshepsut is known for her successful and prosperous reign, during which she initiated numerous building projects and trade expeditions. Despite being a female ruler in a predominantly male-dominated society, Hatshepsut was able to maintain stability and prosperity in Egypt for several decades.
