Here’s the difference between elements and compounds:<div>
</div><div>Elements: Elements are pure substances that cannot be broken down into simpler substances by ordinary chemical means. Each element is made up of identical atoms, all having the same atomic number (number of protons). Elements are represented by chemical symbols, such as H for hydrogen, O for oxygen, and Na for sodium. Examples of elements include iron (Fe), carbon (C), and gold (Au). Elements are the building blocks of all matter.</div><div>
</div><div>Compounds: Compounds are substances composed of two or more different elements chemically combined in fixed proportions. In a compound, elements are held together by chemical bonds. The properties of compounds are different from the properties of the elements that make them up. Compounds have a specific chemical formula, which indicates the types and ratios of the elements present. For example, water is a compound composed of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. Compounds can have unique physical and chemical properties that are distinct from their constituent elements.</div>
