  Five Years ago, Anu was thrice as old as Sonu. After 10 years, Anu will be twicw as old as Sonu . How old are Anu and Sonu ?

  Let’s denote Anu’s current age as A and Sonu’s current age as S.

  Five years ago:

  Anu’s age: A – 5

  Sonu’s age: S – 5

  Given that Anu was thrice as old as Sonu five years ago:

  A−5=3⋅(S−5)

  after 10 years:

  Anu’s age: A + 10

  Sonu’s age: S + 10

  Given that Anu will be twice as old as Sonu after 10 years:

  A+10=2⋅(S+10)

  Solve these equations: and you get A=35 years, S=20 years
