    Major events of World War I:

    Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria in Sarajevo in June 1914 – This event is considered the immediate trigger that started the war.

    Austria-Hungary declares war on Serbia in July 1914 – This led to a series of declarations of war between the Allied Powers (Britain, France, Russia) and the Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire).
