    let the first number = x (equation 1)

    and the second number = x+2 (equation 2)

    then , x+x+2=68

    2x+2=68

    2x=68-2

    2x=66

    x=66÷2

    x=33

    from the above equations

    the first number = x = 33

    the second number = x+2 = 33+2= 35

    therefore, the two consecutive numbers for 68 is 33+35 = 68.

    Hence proved.
