Vitamins and minerals are essential nutrients that our body needs in a definite amount. There is quite a fine difference between these nutrients which might prove healthy and getting too much that can end up harming us. Eating a healthy diet is highly important to get enough of the vitamins and minerals that our bodies need.
Vitamins and minerals are considered essential nutrients—because they perform a variety of roles in the body. They help to make strong bones, healing wounds and boosting our immune system. They also convert food into energy, and repair damage on a cellular level.
Vitamins and minerals are often called micronutrients as our body is in great need of them but only in tiny amounts. Yet avoiding them can get even us in worse conditions where we can fall prey to various guaranteed diseases. Here are a few examples of Vitamins that we need in day-to-day’s life and deficiencies cause the following diseases:
· Vitamin C: Lack of vitamin c causes Scurvy. We have learned from the old times that living for months without fresh fruits or vegetables the bleeding gums and listlessness of scurvy.
· Vitamin A: Lack of vitamin A causes Blindness. It is still found in some countries.
· Vitamin B: It will help in building the cell and realizing energy.
· Vitamin D: Lack of Vitamin D can cause Rickets. It is a condition marked by soft, weak bones that can lead to skeletal deformities such as bowed legs.
· Vitamin E: It will protect the body against damage from the unstable molecules. It also acts as an antioxidant.
· Vitamin K: If we take a combination of calcium, vitamin D, vitamin K, magnesium, and phosphorus then we get strong bones. It will protect our bones against fractures.
