Homophones and homonyms
Homophones and homonyms are a very important of our vocabulary. We always need to understand the homophones and homonyms when we are learning English grammar. They both are a part of vocabulary learning. We most often got confused between them. They are quite similar and different from each other. We most of the time face difficulty to identify them. So let’s learn about the homophones and homonyms.
Homophones:-
Homophones are a kind of words which have the same pronunciation but have a spelling and different meaning. It’s quite confusion to find the correct homophones, so always try to understand the situation of the sentence ,then it will be easy to understand.
Example:-
Cell-sell, flower- flour, knight- night, sea- see, son-sun, too- to
Rose is beautiful follower.
Flour is made by wheat.
I want to buy a car.
I cross by the station.
My son is a doctor.
Sun is a star.
Magbeth is a great knight.
I saw star and moon at night.
The color of the Arabic sea is blue.
I want to see the Statue of liberty.
As you can in the sentences the both words sound the same but have different meaning.
Homonyms:-
Homonyms is a group of words which have same pronunciation and spelling but the meaning of the words are different. It’s kinda of a similar to homophones but homophones can’t always spelt the same, but homonyms always spelt same.
Example:-
Ring (jewelry) Ring(circle),Bat(animal) Bat(playing kit), Plam (tree), plam(part of hand), Sink (drowning) Sink(a stuff for wash hand)
You have a nice watch.
I like to watch TV.
You can do it!
I have a can of Coca-Cola.
She is always right.
I write with my right hand.
BTS is a famous Korean band.
I always tie my hair with a band.
The photo was hanging on a nail by the door.
She bought a red nail polish.
As you can see on the sentences the spelling and pronunciation is same but the meaning is different.

Homophones and Homonyms are a very important of our grammar and vocabulary. Specifically in case of vocabulary those are extremely important. Homophones is basically a bunch of words that are sound the same but have different meaning or different spelling.like,”Deer” and “Dear”,both this words are sound the same but have different spelling and meaning.on the other hand Homonyms is a kind of words which are spell the same and sounds same but have different meaning. Like “Bat”, Bat means two kinds of things first it means a animal Bat, on the other hand it means a stuff of playing like Bat, it both Bat have same spelling and sound but have different meaning. Now that we learn the definition, so let’s lean the difference. It’s it helps us to identify the both and will improve our vocabulary.
The difference between Homophones and Homonyms:-
1) Homophones is a group of words which sound the same but have different spelling and meaning. But Homonyms have different meaning but sound and spell the same.
2) Homophones contains two different kinds of words. On the other hand Homonyms have identical words.
3) Homophones are easy to identify as they are not identical. But Homonyms can’t easily identical as it looks same.
4) Homophones have different spelling,like “write” and “right “.But Homonyms have same spelling, like” ring” and “ring”, one ring is a jewelry and other mean circle.
5) Homophones is a type of Homonym, but Homonyms is not a part of homophones.

1) I want to buy a book.
After leaving I wish him good bye.
2) Roti is made by flour.
Lilly is a very beautiful flower.
3) I saw a big red ant today.
Mita is my favorite aunt.
Homonyms example:-
1) Max love to watch TV.
Lisa bought a expensive watch today.
2) I have 20 inch ruler.
Akbar is a grand ruler.
3) The fly is making too much noise.
Let’s fly kites today.
