The gas that is most abundant in the Earth’s atmosphere is nitrogen (N2). Air is made up of 78% of nitrogen and 21% of other gases. It neither has any colour nor any taste or smell. Nitrogen occurs in all organisms, primarily in amino acids ( protein ), in the nucleic acid and in the energy transfer molecule adenosine triphosphate.
