Write the differences between a Nuclear family and a Joint family.
Nuclear vs. Joint Family Differences
In general, a family is a group of people who stay together, relate to each other, and stand for each other. The major function of a family is to take care of well well-being of their members and society. Ideally, one of the primary functions of the family is to maintain production and reproduction biologically and socially. Families are broadly classified into two types-
· Nuclear family
· Joint family
The difference between nuclear and joint family is just not limited to difference in number of members, there is more to it. Here is a brief explanation of the above-mentioned types of family.
Nuclear family
Such a family, generally comprises of mother, father and their children. Nuclear families are also known as conjugal or elementary families. In this type of family, the flow of income is relatively lower as there is usually just a single earner in the house. Emotions shared between members in such a household are quite straightforward. There is more scope of freedom and privacy and fewer expenses. While there are perks to it, there are some disadvantages too. Members in such families don’t tend to socialize with distant relatives often, and all the members are quite like-minded, meaning no scope in having broad perspective, as all the members think on the same lines.
Joint family
Such a family, generally comprise of relatives such as aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc. Joint families are also known as extended families. Such families generally earn more economically, as there are multiple earners in the house. Emotions shared between members of this household are more extended; every member has his/her special bond and closeness with others. The major advantage of a joint family is consistent income, fallback place, constant and more support and the kids grow up with more learned. However there are a few disadvantages like less privacy, less freedom, less space, a tendency of jealousy and quarrels and also more expenses.

Firstly, I would like to define family so family is the place where people live together. A family generally consists of a mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, and siblings. Now a question must be arising in our mind why we need family or what is the importance of family.
So, family is the pillar of every individual. Whenever we are having trouble or problems only there is our family members who loves and support us.
In a family, every member shares their pain, feelings, and problems with everyone. In a family, a person’s happiness is family happiness, and a person’s pain is a family pain.
It is said that family is considered as first school of us, where we learn our basic atticates of our life like how to react to others, elders, how to speak with politeness, how to sit and so on.
There is a huge importance of family in everyone’s life. Family is the place where you take birth, grow, live your life, and die.
Family is always with you.
Now as we know there are two types of family like:-
° nuclear family and
° joint family
Nuclear family
This is a small type of family. Separated family. This family consists of a mother, father, and children. This type of family is generally founded in the USA or the UK.
In this family, the family size is very small. All persons are busy in their own life generally, both the parents are working and child are busy at their work.
In this type of family there is always a kind of personal feelings. Children who belong to these kinds of families are mostly introverted. This is also a kind of “MODERN FAMILY”
Joint family
According to the name joint” together”. In this kind of family the whole members lives together. This family generally consists of grandparents, parents, children, aunts, and uncles.
This is a kind of “TRADITIONAL FAMILY”. Joint families are mostly popular in India only. Each day in a joint family is like a holiday or like a festival because all the members spend lots of time together happily.
All the family members are like support pillars for each other.
But there are some of the reason why people choose nuclear family instead of joint family:-
1. Due to their job place
2. Dispute between members
3. Burden ( economical)
4. Sometimes they only want personal life.
But I personally love joint family.
Thank you!!!
