Causes Behind Teen Depression

The reason behind depression is overthinking. Overthinking is the root cause of depression. Most teenagers have the habit of overthinking a particular situation or topic. The teen overthinks about a situation where there is no solution for it and falls out for the depression. Whenever there is a problem, an individual must try to discuss it with the elders or try to find a solution for it. Whenever there is no solution for it, the individual must stop thinking about the situation and must move on to the ordinary life.

Another reason behind depression is being overly emotional. The individual must not be over emotional because if he/she is over emotional, ultimately feels sick and also depressed. The individual needs to control their emotion.

When the individual doesn’t stop overthinking and being overemotional, then the individual will feel depressed.

Teenage – the most tender age of getting a reality check of what life is. Ever since childhood, we have been free and playful and all of a sudden burdened under the pressure of responsibilities, the load of career and finance. Where we get to understand that the world is not a wish-granting factory. An age where the hormonal changes are at their peak and we witness the first taste of lust, love, and heartbreaks. An age full of dreams and hopes. There, we witness the first face of depression and anxiety. The thoughts of failure and future risks, the thoughts of choosing between passion and money, the pressure of pursuing a subject for the sake of your parents’ dreams and the fulfilment of their wishes – the thoughts of having it all and risking it all. Here we enter into the most adventurous age of our lifetime – the teenage.

Well, teenage depression has been at high peaks for years. The reason behind being very clear – the thoughts mentioned above and no one to talk about it. Then there comes a phase where the child gets into drugs and smoking to get rid of their anxiousness.

We all think about our careers and finances, life ahead for our parents and with our loved ones. However, we fail to understand that losing ourselves to depression is no solution to our problems.

However, there are a few points that might help you out –

1. Meditation – it is the most powerful way to gain back your mental peace. It not only creates a peaceful balance but also strengthens our ability to think and our power to concentrate. A daily meditation of 15 – 30 minutes can easily lead us to peace and harmony.

2. Don’t dwell on the past – as it is said, let bygones be bygone. Don’t stress over emotional memories of the past. Let it go. Don’t stress over the mistakes of the past. It will lead to nothing but a great turmoil of troublesome thoughts in your head. Once you stop thinking about the memories of the past that have been haunting you, you’ll find yourself internally happy with no anxieties.

3. The future is uncertain – most things causing chaos in the head are about the future. Well,it’ss quite uncertain what it will lead you to. You can have a vision about pursuing something, and you might land up into something completely different. Thinking about these uncertainties will only bring home a dozen anxieties, nothing else. However, if you start living in the present, giving your best shot in the present will lead you to a beautiful future. Things can not be created in one day. We need to work on them and earn them. Thinking about them will not let us achieve it, working on it will surely do. Thus, instead of thinking about the future, let’s work in the present for a better future.
