What is Vitiligo?

About Vitiligo

Vitiligo is a skin condition. In this disease, parts of the skin turn pale, a comparatively lighter color than the original skin tone. It is often seen as patches of white skin.

It is caused primarily when the particular cells under the skin are destroyed due to certain conditions.

There are particular symptoms for it. The most prominent ones are:

1. white, oval-shaped patches on the skin

2. unpredictable size and spread of these patches

3. whitening of hair at a very early stage, premature too

4. Change of color at the inside of the mouth and nose

and many more.

The causes can be due to various factors, some of them are:

1. Not completely, but some part of it can be inherited.

2. It can show up due to high exposure to the sun.

3. It can show up due to high exposure to chemicals.

4. Can show due to tremendous stress.

and many more.

This disease can, in turn, give rise to many other diseases, such as:

1. Depression

2. Skin cancer

3. Inflammation of the iris

4. Sensitivity of skin

and many more.

Treatment is available for these diseases. However, it never fully recovered to 100%. There is always a chance of relapse, and at times, it leaves scars no matter what is done.

I hope this answer helps!
