Lal Bahadur Shastri was born on 2nd October, 1904 at Mughalsarai, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. He was the subsequent Prime Minister of Independent India and the head of the Indian National Congress Party. His mother’s name was Ramdulhari, and his Father was Sharada Prasad Srivastava. His father used to teach in school, and his mother was a housewife who looked after him and two other sisters. Lal Bahadur Shastri got a feeling of enthusiasm from one instructor named ‘Nishkameshwar Prasad Mishra. He went to jail when he was in the 10th grade. He finished his Bachelor’s in Philosophy and got the title of ‘Vidyapeeth.’

He showed an uncommon nature of courage and determination, and assurance during his service as prime minister. He gave a motto named ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan.’ He joined the National Congress and went to prison for over two years. He partook in numerous occasions and developments. He was a very good friend of Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. At the point when he was considering his Degree, he gave numerous speeches on Gandhi. With time, he became one of the faithful devotees of Gandhi.

After India got Independence, he turned into the Minister of Police and Transport in UP. He brought numerous progressions during his service, such as permitting ladies/women to work, utilizing water planes to transport people, etc. Soon, he became PM of India in the year 1964 to 1966. But he served his duty for a very short period. He passed on at Tashkent when he was there to sign the peace treaty to stop the India-Pakistan war. His reason for death is as yet a secret for the entire world. Many theories claim that his death was a planned one.

After he passed on, he was granted the ‘Bharat Ratna.’

He was a great admirer of Mahatma Gandhi. During this movement, he was arrested for a short time. After being released from prison, he went to study at Kashi Vidyapeeth and graduated with the title ‘Sastri’. After graduation, he was affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi and the Congress Party. He was imprisoned several times after that. He was the true son of Mother India and believed in the policies of Gandhiji. After independence, Shastri became the home minister of Uttar Pradesh. He became the union minister for railways and transport after being elected in 1952. His mediator skills influence people in many ways. Three years after Jawaharlal Nehru’s death, he became the prime minister of India. He faced criticism for not dealing with India’s economic issues. But people of India show their love and respect for him in various ways. His policy “jai jawan jai kisan”, greatly admired by everyone. He was awarded ‘Bharat Ratna” for his contribution, and many memorials
were built to honor him, like ‘Vijay Ghat” in Delhi. On 11 January 1966, Shastri died by heart ­attack in Tashkent. One day after signing a peace treaty for the Indo ­Pakistan war. His death created much misery, and many people believe that he was killed. His death shook the people of India. In his short period as prime minister, he did great work and greatly contributed to our country’s development.
