Nouns are an integral part of English speech, perhaps second only to verbs. It’s hard to say much without using a word.
There are different types of English nouns. It is often helpful to see what a noun is because different types sometimes have different rules. This helps you to use them effectively.
Common nouns and proper nouns
Common Nouns
Many common nouns are common. Common names refer to people, places, and things in general such as a chair or a dog. Any name other than the name is a common noun.
Examples: teacher, car, music, risk, receipt
Have you seen my dog?
Books are on your desk.
… the pursuit of happiness.
Proper nouns
Names of people, places, or organizations are appropriate names. Your name is a proper name. London is the right name. The United Nations is a fitting name.
Rule: Proper nouns always start with a capital letter.
Examples: Jane, Thailand, Sunday, James Bond, Einstein, Superman, Game of Thrones, Shakespeare
Let me introduce you to Mary.
The capital of Italy is Rome.
He is the chairman of the British Broadcasting Corporation.
I was born in November.
Note: The adjectives we make in proper nouns also begin with a capital letter, for example Shakespearian, Orwellian.
Names Concrete and Abstract Nouns
Names Concrete
Physical nouns are tangible things you can touch.
Examples: man, rice, head, car, furniture, cell phone
How many stars are there in the universe?
Have you ever met James Bond?
Pour water down the drain.
Abstract Names
Abstract names contradict concrete names. They are things you can’t touch. Abstract nouns are ideas, concepts and feelings.
Examples: happiness, courage, danger, truth
He has great power.
Who killed President Kennedy is a real mystery.
Sometimes it takes courage to speak up.
Their lives were full of sorrow.
Runaway Names and Non-Run Names
Names of Refugees
(also called counting nouns)
You can count running names. The running nouns have singular and plural forms.
Examples: ball, boy, cat, person
I only have five dollars.
The earth was built 4.6 billion years ago.
There are many people but we do not have a car.
Nouns do not go down
(also called plural nouns)
You cannot count innumerable names. You need to use “word measurement” rating.
Rule: We have never used countless nouns with an unknown phrase (a / an). Countless nouns remain singular.
Examples: water, joy, cheese
Do you have money?
Air-conditioners use a lot of electricity.
Am I doing any work?
Most Asians eat rice.
Names have been collected
A compound noun refers to a group of people.
Examples: class (group of students), pride (group of lions), staff (group of sailors)
Rule: Collected nouns can be treated as singular or plural. More about this in the rules of verb contraction and compound nouns.
His family lives in different countries.
A typical family consists of four people.
The new company is the result of a merger.
The board of directors will meet tomorrow.
Combined Names
A compound noun is a noun made up of two or more words. Most nouns combined are [noun + noun] or [adjective + noun]. Each compound noun acts as a single unit and can be replaced with adjectives and other nouns.
Combined nouns have three different types:
open or separated – space between words (bus stop)
hyphenated – hyphenated between words (mother-in-law)
closed or tight – no space or link between words (ball)
Examples: cat food, board, breakfast, full moon, washing machine, software
Can we use a swimming pool?
They stop working at sunset.
Don’t forget to get out at 12 noon.

That is a wonderful question and related to our immediate surroundings as well , that is plants !
we observe that the colour of leafs in most plants appears to be greenthis is mainly because of the special chemical – “chlorophyll” is present in leafs
chlorophyll helps the plants in the process of photosynthesis which is a process by which they make their food
chlorophyll in leafs captures sunlight and provide energy to the plant and helps the leaves in making food , this what the leaves are also called food factory or the kitchen of the plant !
chlorophyll is like a dye of the plant is gives the leaves of the plants its beautiful green colour , but also have a very important scientific importance that is it helps to absorb sunlight and stores it !
you would also find it surprising that not only sunlight but water , air (oxygen) and a lot of other this are also used in photosynthesis
plants store their food in the form of glucose
glucose in a simpler / less complex form of starch or sugar
chlorophyll is an green pigment which is sometimes also used as dyes
do you know that chlorophyll is stored in chloroplasts inside the leaves
in the process photosynthesis – the process by which plants make food ,
chlorophyll have a very important roleif chlorophyl will nit be there then the plants will not be able to make their food and will eventually die
you would have noticed that the dead leaves in the plant are not of bright green colour but darker shades this is because they no longer have chlorophyll and can not make food so they die 🙁
hence chlorophyll not only gives the plants its colour but is highly productive and important as well
did u know that there are some plants which do not have green colour leaves but blue , orange , purple , pink , yellow , red any many other colours as well
this is because they do not have chlorophyll in them
instead they have other chemicals which have different colours , such pigments are betalains which is redish in colour
such plants are — Acalypha wilkesiana (Euphorbiaceae)
Coleus blumei (Lamiaceae)
Euphorbia cotinifolia (Euphorbiaceae)
Iresine herbstii (Amaranthaceae)
Pseuderanthemum
atropurpureum (Acanthaceae)well i hope you got your answer and learned some new things as well
you would have realised the science in nature and how everything has multiple functions
such as chlorophyll has both beauty and science
so next time you find something different ask what are is its different functions this will increase your curiosity in science and help you understand things in a better way !! -

MemberMay 12, 2021 at 3:56 pm in reply to: Importance of pronunciation of English language::this is indeed a very unique question !
Misunderstandings may arise when the correct pronunciation is used
Conflicts can occur when you do not pronounce words correctly.
Communication in relationships with friends and colleagues is important. Imagine trying to tell someone that you want to buy something or that you want to go somewhere and bring the wrong thing to you or send you to the wrong place.
Additionally, when pronunciation is not good, you may be distorted even if you do not intend to do so. This can put a strain on the relationship.
An easy way to fix this problem is to learn to pronounce words in English from a traditional speaker.
also – Proper pronunciation is a key to mastering the English language. Without proper pronunciation, vocabulary you know will not work well when communicating. It is always better to know a few words and pronounce them correctly than to know many words and mispronounce them.
Proper pronunciation can result in misunderstandings that can cause problems. It can also cause people to avoid contacting you because they find it very difficult to talk to them.
When you are ready to make a change and make your English stronger instead of weaker, please contact us and we will help guide you to the right solution for you. We will help you figure out how to get started on your journey to pronunciation and learning English fluently.
hope you found your answer !!

you would be fascinated to know that their are different stages to this process–
these process play a important part in keeping us aliveThere are four main stages in the water cycle. It is evaporation, condensation, rainfall and collection. Let’s look at each of these categories.
Evaporation: This is when heat from the sun causes seawater, lakes, streams, ice, and soil to evaporate into the atmosphere. Water vapor droplets form and form clouds!
Concentration: This is when the cooled water vapor turns into liquid water.
Depth: This is when water (in the form of rain, snow, hail, or rain) falls in the clouds in the sky.
Collection: This is when water falls on clouds such as rain, snow, hail or rain, which collects in seas, rivers, lakes, streams. Most will penetrate (penetrate) into the ground and collect like groundwater.
these steps also have great importance for plants
